On November 10, 2006 the museum opened it's newest exhibit.
In 1961, thirteen women pilots underwent secret astronaut testing, passing the same physical tests as the men of the Mercury 7. They hoped to become America's first female astronauts. This exhibit tells their story, as well as the history of women in the U.S. space program.

For our opening we were joined by Irene Leverton (center), one of the Mercury 13, shown above with Connie Luhta, Museum President (left), and Toni Mullee, Executive Director (right).
