First Annual Cleveland WOW Conference held by IWASM!

On Saturday September 24, 2011 we held our first annual WOW Conference (Wings of Women) made possible by Time Warner Cable, Inc. Over 80 girls attended this event, some coming from as far away as Detroit and West Virginia! With the help of our wonderful volunteer mentors, the girls learned about careers in STEM and aviation. The girls met with engineers, private pilots, commercial pilots, rocket scientists, military pilots and personnel, and more! Our closing speaker was pilot Becky Bauer who left the girls with the inspirational message of being persistent when achieving their dreams. Many of the girls returned the next day for Young Eagle flights conducted by members of the EAA. The event was a huge success thanks to all our volunteers, mentors, Ohio University Russ College of Engineering for providing lunch, and especially Time Warner Cable, Inc.
